On Wednesday, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has formally changed its name to Punjab Kings. Kings XI Punjab also revealed the new logo as reported by The Sports News. In a statement on Wednesday, the franchise said, \u201cWe are much more than a team, but a family which has come together and built a connect with our fans through our relentless hard work. The new brand logo and name are an extension to our undying spirit of fighting against all odds and celebrating the true spirit of Punjab.\u201d Speaking about the new brand identity, team CEO Satish Menon said, \u201cPunjab Kings is a more evolved brand name, and we understand it was a right time for us to move focus on the core brand itself. The change in brand identity is not about changing our brand ethos but celebrating our oneness as we stand in unit like a family. The new logo honours the liveliness and vibrancy of the brand and provides modern elements, while we stand out from rest of the teams.\u201d Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) is owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, and Karan Paul. It\u2019s not the first time IPL franchise is changing its name, Delhi Capitals have changed their name from Delhi Daredevils in 2018 and Rising Pune Supergiants removed an \u2018s\u2019 from their name and played as Supergiant in the 2017 season. Punjab Kings will go with the new name and logo in the IPL 2021 Auction, scheduled to take place on 18 February 2021 (Thursday) in Chennai.
