A player from English Premier League club Everton had been arrested by the Greater Manchester police earlier this month. However, up until now, it was not clear to which club did the offender belong.
Now according to recent reports the person arrested is a ’31-year-old male’ who plays at Everton FC. The Greater Manchester police have arrested this alleged man for over-involvement in child sex offences.
Everton have now released a statement saying that they have suspended the person in question. The club still haven’t revealed the name of the player and are referring to him as a ‘First Team player’.
“Everton can confirm it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time,” Everton said in their official statement.
Greater Manchester Police made the arrest earlier this month and were reluctant to reveal the full details of the case. All that the police say is that the player is a millionaire and represents his nation often.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences. He is on police bail pending further enquiries,” Greater Manchester Police said.
