South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams has been signed by the Delhi Capitals (DC) as a replacement for England’s Harry Brook for the remainder of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
Lizaad Williams joins Delhi Capitals at his base price of INR 50 lakhs.

Since making his international debut in 2021, Williams has represented South Africa in two Tests, four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 11 T20 Internationals. In 11 T20 international games, he picked 16 wickets.
His most recent international appearance came against India where he was part of the white-ball setup. He will join his fellow international team-mate Anrich Nortje to boost the struggling bowling attack.

He was part of the Joburg Super Kings in the recent edition of the SA20 tournament where he picked up a total of 15 wickets in the nine games he had played.
Brook had been acquired for Rs 4 crore by Delhi Capitals but withdrew from the competition after the passing away of his grandmother in February.
Brook made his debut in the IPL last season as he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In IPL 2023, he scored a 55-ball hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders. Further, he only made 190 runs in 11 matches after the franchise paid Rs 13.25 crore to acquire him.
Earlier another South African pacer, Lungi Ngidi withdrew from the tournament for DC as he continued his recovery from the lower-back injury he suffered during the SA20 earlier in the year.
