India were favourite before the match and it ended to be winning the match. India wrapped up West Indies inning for 100 runs, though there was 50 runs partnership for the last wicket. Star of the first inning Ishant Sharma took 3 tickets but it was Jasprit Bumrah who took 5 wickets in just 8 overs.

While this match also breaks some records, it was the biggest margin win for India (home or way). Virat Kohli also equal MS Dhoni for most Test wins as a captain, both had 27 wins but Virat Kohli did it in 47 matches which MS Dhoni took 60 matches. Also, Virat Kohli left Sourav Ganguly behind in most away Test wins for India captains, winning 12 away Test matches.
