The Dubai International Stadium and the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi are ready to host the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).

Sharing the spectacular view of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi stadium, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote, “3 more days to go! What a spectacular and breathtaking view from the stadiums in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The United Arab Emirates looks all set to host the most awaited tournament of the year #IPL2020. The world is ready, so are we! @IPL @BCCI @SGanguly99 @ThakurArunS.”

A day after doing a recce of the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, former Indian skipper Ganguly took a tour of the Dubai stadium along with Arun Dhumal, treasurer of BCCI, interim CEO Hemang Amin and other senior officials.

The Dubai International Stadium received a thumbs-up from the top brass of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including president Sourav Ganguly, who visited the stadium as part of their inspection routine on Tuesday.

Abu Dhabi will host the opening match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Septemeber 19. While a day after, Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host the match between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. And Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host the first match on September 22 between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

Dubai will host the most number of IPL matches, 24 while Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will host 20 and 24 matches respectively. Sharjah is also likely to host the four matches of the Women’s T20 Challenge. While BCCI is yet to release the schedule of the playoffs.

UAE has received appreciation from the former IPL Governing Council chairman Rajiv Shukla and said, ‘‘BCCI had waited till the last minute before moving the league overseas as the coronavirus situation spiralled out of control. They deserve kudos for taking up the challenge.”
