The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup (Durand Cup 2023) is set to take place between August 3 and September 3. Indian Super League (ISL) champions, Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Bangladesh Army at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium in the tournament’s opening game.
The Durand Cup is the only tournament in India that features teams from the Indian Super League, I-League and the Armed Forces.
This is the first time in the history of the Durand Cup that it will feature 24 teams, with the teams divided into six groups of four each. 19 Indian clubs and five armed forces teams from India, Nepal, and Bangladesh will participate in this edition, marking the first time in 27 years that a foreign team will join the tournament. The tournament will witness 43 matches.
The six group winners and the two best second-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage. Bengaluru FC are the defending champions, having secured victory by defeating Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the Durand Cup 2022 final.

Durand Cup 2023 Venues
Durand Cup 2023 will be played across three cities – Kolkata, Guwahati, and Kokrajhar.
Three of the six groups will play their matches in Kolkata. Guwahati will host two groups and Kokrajhar in Assam will host one group.
Guwahati and Kokrajhar will also host one quarter-final each, while the rest of the knockout games will be played in Kolkata.
