Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Kolkata Knight Riders have named Phil Salt as a replacement for Jason Roy. Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL 2024 owing to personal reasons.
Salt was DC’s second-highest run-getter of IPL 2023 with 218 runs from nine innings in nine matches at an average of 27.15 with a strike-rate of 163.91, including two half-centuries and a best individual score of 87. Having remained unsold in the auction after representing Delhi Capitals last year, this will be Salt’s second season in the IPL.
Bought at his reserve price of INR 1.5 crore, the aggressive wicket-keeper batter from England scored two consecutive T20I centuries against the West Indies in December last year. His 48-ball century in the 4th T20I at Trinidad is also the joint-fastest for England.
This will be the second replacement for Kolkata Knight Riders before the start of the IPL 2024. Earlier, KKR have named Dushmantha Chameera as a replacement for England pacer Gus Atkinson.
