On Tuesday, SC East Bengal confirmed the signing of Scott Neville on a season-long loan deal from Brisbane Roar for the upcoming season of Indian Super League (ISL 2020-21). Neville has been part of newly appointed SC East Bengal coach Robbie Fowler’s set up at the Brisbane Roar in the A-League.
As reported earlier by the The Sports News, East Bengal FC was in talks with Scott Neville to sign as AFC quota player, which is confirmed now.
Joint managing director of Shree Cement Prashant Bangur said in a press statement, “We are glad to announce that the club has agreed on a season-long loan move for experienced A-League defender Scott Neville.”
“Scott brings a lot of experience to us having played 12 consecutive seasons in the A-League with 200+ matches and also featured for the Australia U-23 team,” Bangur added.
Neville has only missed two matches in Brisbane Roar’s A-League campaign in the 2019-20 season.
“India presents a new challenge and I cannot wait to don the red and gold colours and take the field. There will always be massive expectations from us and I am aware of that. I can assure the fans that we will leave no stone unturned in our bid to strive for excellence,” Neville said.
The 31-year-old guided them to finish in fourth place in the A-League and the team also played in the A-League Final Series. Neville played part in his A-League maiden season in Brisbane 25 times, which takes him to a total of 223 matches in the span of his 10 years career.
