Kerala Blasters FC have reached an agreement with A-League Club Newcastle Jets to sign versatile attacker Jaushua Sotirio for an undisclosed transfer fee. He becomes Kerala Blasters FC’s first signing of the summer, ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2023-24).

Sotirio has penned a two-year deal that will see him don the yellow and blue until 2025. Jaushua Sotirio have made over 150 appearances in the A-League.

The Sydney-born attacker joins the club after plying his trade in the Australian First Division for many years representing clubs like Western Sydney Wanderers FC, Wellington Phoenix FC, and Newcastle Jets through his career.

A center-forward by position, Sotirio displays tremendous versatility, discipline, and mentality to lead the attack from anywhere across the front three.

Sotirio, a former AFC Champions League winner in 2013/14, has also made a combined 13 appearances for the Young Socceroos and Olyroos, including a winner against Indonesia in the AFC U-19 Championship.

Commenting on the signing of Jaushua Sotirio; Karolis Skinkys, Kerala Blasters Sporting Director, said, “Jaushua Sotirio is an exciting addition to the KBFC squad, his profile and playing style gels very well into the brand of football we play as a club.”

“We are confident that, Jaushua with his experience and skills would add more options to our plans in the upcoming season, I wish him the best of time with us at Kerala Blasters and hope he will show his best version in ISL,” he added.

Jaushua Sotirio said, “A call-up from Kerala Blasters with the kind of role they had envisioned for me left me with very few doubts and gave me clarity about taking up this challenge of entering into a different league set-up.”

“I understand that Kerala Blasters FC has one of the most vibrant fanbases and football cultures across Asian football. I see it as a great honor to be able to represent them and rest assured, I will be giving it my all for the club. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates, coaches, and passionate fans,” he added.

Jaushua Sotirio Career

Sotirio, having spent his entire professional football career in Australia, is a versatile attacker that can play as a winger or forward and comes with a bags of experience. The 27-year-old has also played at the highest level, winning the AFC Champions League with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014 while also featuring in the 2014 Club World Cup.

Sotirio began his youth career with Five Dock and Leichhardt before moving onto Australian semi-professional side Marconi Stallions. He then signed for the Wanderers and spent six seasons there. He was part of the side that finished as A-League runners-up on two occasions during the 2013-14 and 2015-16 season. The dynamic forward later turned up for Wellington Phoenix FC and after three seasons, went on to sign for Newcastle Jets on a two-year deal in 2022. Sotorio, however, spent just one season with the Jets.
